The observation phase is a critical step in the user-centered design process. During this phase, researchers employ both quantitative and qualitative research methods, conduct interviews, analyze surveys, and test the usability of existing solutions. The goal of this phase is to understand the background, objectives, motivations, and challenges that users encounter.
The goal of this phase is to come up with innovative and user-focused concepts in collaboration with the client. Designers are creating and exploring a wide range of ideas and potential solutions to meet the needs and insights gathered from direct observation and user research.
Prototypes of proposed solutions allow designers to easily and quickly assess the comprehensibility and usability of concepts. Thanks to prototypes, it's possible to identify potential design issues early on and thus avoid unnecessary project development cost increases.
Testing final prototypes or completed solutions with real users is aimed at evaluating the overall usability of the design. Researchers test solutions based on a predetermined scenario with the target user group. The goal of this phase is to identify deficiencies and provide information about potential improvements that will ultimately ensure a better user experience.

In ui42, we have our own laboratory dedicated to conducting user testing and usability studies. This space provides an optimal environment for observing user behavior without external influences that could in any way affect the study results. A significant advantage is the observation room separated by a one-way mirror. Thanks to it, all involved parties can monitor the progress of testing and gain a better understanding of how the tested product or service is actually used and the challenges users commonly encounter.
