ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning, which refers to a software system that serves to integrate and manage all important business areas.

More info

The goal of ERP is to provide the company with a comprehensive overview of its operational and financial activities, while also enabling it to manage its resources more efficiently. ERP systems are often used by large and medium-sized enterprises and are one of the key tools for improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the company.

Features and Texts for Products in the ERP System

Many product information, such as dimensions, material, colors, or size, are stored on product cards in the product catalog in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), a system for planning enterprise resources. Many of them are also needed in the e-shop, and thus the preparation of content is usually reduced to importing information from ERP software. However, when launching an e-shop, we recommend not waiting for a functioning connection between the e-commerce CMS and the ERP system but preparing the first set of products in an XLS table. It will be faster, and you will sooner find out which information is still missing and needs to be written by yourself. In every e-shop, you will find that several important product information is not prepared.

Probably the most important feature or text for a product, besides the name, category, and photo, is its description. Start with simple text, keeping in mind the potential customer who expects precise and concise information without unnecessary advertising clutter.

Simple Warehouse in the ERP System

A simple warehouse system is also provided by some e-commerce CMS, but they offer only basic functions for inventory tracking and order processing, which may be sufficient for a small e-shop to start. As the e-shop grows, you cannot avoid having your own ERP system. It includes a warehouse as well as orders, invoices, payments, and possibly other parts necessary for running the e-shop. You can build your own ERP or choose from ready-made ones, which are usually offered by software companies with products in the field of accounting and economics. In both cases, the connection between ERP and e-commerce CMS is important.
