The digital world is constantly changing, and so are our mobile screens. The first half of 2025 clearly shows that Slovaks are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence tools, as well as online shopping and trusted social networks. Which applications dominated from January to June this year?
Overall Ranking: AI is King, Defeats Everyone
The absolute winner is ChatGPT from OpenAI. This artificial intelligence application has steadfastly held the top spot in the rankings of most downloaded apps in the Google Play store in Slovakia since the beginning of the year. Right behind it are practical tools like PDF Reader & Viewer and the shopping sensation called Temu.

Online Shopping: Klarna and Temu Score
Slovaks have literally fallen in love with convenient mobile shopping. The dominant player is Klarna, which offers not only a seamless shopping experience but also the attractive option of deferred payments (so-called "Buy now, pay later"). Right behind it is Temu, a new global player with an extremely aggressive pricing policy. This user behavior correlates with the current developments in the e-commerce and retail market, where sellers perceive increased interest in diverse goods and services. While Klarna provides deferred payments or the use of bonus loyalty cards, Temu attracts with "shopping like a millionaire," as its main asset is cheap products from Asia.
Popular regional brands like 101 Drogerie, Lidl Plus, Kaufland, or popular online marketplaces Allegro and SHEIN are gradually being added to the rankings.

Interestingly, the surprisingly high placement of the TP-Link Tapo app in the lifestyle category is clear evidence that Slovaks are increasingly smartifying their homes.
