Emoticons
What does it mean
Emoticons are now an integral part of our online communication. Simple graphic symbols can express emotions, moods, or even replace entire words. They are a universal language that connects cultures, generations, and even formal and informal communication.
More info
Emoticons are visual representations of emotions, facial expressions, or objects used to better express thoughts or feelings. The name originated from the combination of the words "emotion" and "icon." Initially, they were simple text combinations like :-)
or :-(
, but today we know them in the form of colorful emojis.
Why do we use them?
1. They increase emotional clarity
In text communication, the tone can easily be misunderstood. Emoticons add emotions and help the reader interpret the meaning correctly.
2. They reduce formality
Using emoticons makes communication friendlier and more informal.
3. They save time
A simple emoticon can often express what words would describe complexly.
